El modernismo

Ruben Dario is the father of modernism. This method of writing poetry began in the late 19th-early 20th centuries. I found a link that talks a little more about modernism. It really helped me pick out key elements while reading the poetry of Ruben Dario. Here's the link:

I found the distinctions between modernism and vanguardianism (in the reading) really interesting. It really was like a mini-battle as to who would rule the literary world!

I loved reading Dario's "A Roosevelt" because it really looks at the US and its actions during these times and points the finger at Roosevelt. I loved that the United States used the word "Expansionismo/Expansionism not Imperialismo/Imperialism" during this time period to justify their actions..Because Imperialism was just to harsh of a word. It is nice to see another view of the United States sometimes!

I read a little over Roosevelt during the days of Imperialism and found out that Central America actually liked the help of the American military, until Roosevelt decided to intervene in every political (and probably social) conflict. It was then that a war broke out. I thought that was really interesting.
